The ORL Grand Rounds, last Friday of July
I presented my "experience" during my off-campus elective in Otorhinolaryngology last May in this month's last ORL Grand Rounds. It went better than I expected. The residents still know me from last year which is a good sign. It means I did something right (or wrong). Kor and Jay-R also presented their "experience" during their off-campus ORL elective in Singapore. Then the consultants went on and compared and contrasted both "experiences".
Somwhere along the line, I think I gave the impression that I'm sure about going into ORL because all my classmates asked me if I was going to get the straight internship in ORL.
In my institution, there are three tracks for internship. Track A is the normal track almost everyone takes. It includes all the big rotations and the specialties. Track B is the Big Four Track. It rotates only in Internal Medicine, Surgery, Pedia and Ob-Gyne plus a vacation-rotation in Community Medicine on the beaches of Batangas. Track C is the special Straight Track where you choose a specialty and rotate for the whole year in that specialty plus the Batangas rotation.
I'm going to take Track A because I'm not yet sure what field I'm going to specialize in. Many of my classmates think I'm decided on taking Track C in ORL. I wonder why?
